Day 5 and 6- we are exhausted

We finished up at priority one missions yesterday, and headed to the Bowery after lunch. We took a few wrongs turns, but finally arrived around 3pm. We know it's hot back home, but just imagine lugging all your belongings down the street of NYC for numerous blocks to look up and see a sign that it's 104 degrees. We made it to the Bowery mission though ready to serve- even if a little tired and sweaty.

Day-6 has been a full work day. Many of us had to get up at 5:30am to start serving breakfast. Another group started getting ready shortly after to load up a truck with tons of produce, bread, sandwiches, and homemade soup that had been donated. We headed down to a park several blocks away to set-up an community outreach food center. People are given soup and sandwiches to eat, then allowed to shop through the fresh produce and bread. A very humbling experience for us all. We all arrived back at the Bowery in time to share lunch with the students here. The students here are in a program to get them off the streets, and give them food for the body and spirit. We've all made new friends and have enjoyed listening to these men share their stories. We also got the opportunity to lead the chapel service this afternoon. Such a great experience for us all. Blessing to all... NYC trib3

Day 4- what a difference prayer and a day can make!!!

Hello family and Friends,
Today we got to sleep in an extra 30m, and what a difference it made(along with all the prayers). We ate breakfast and then all met up to head downtown. We started out at a great location - Battery park. With the Statue of Liberty off in the distance. It was a little smoggy today with the high temps so it wasn't a clear shot of our Lady of Liberty, but we got some good pictures regardless! Next we headed to ground zero. First we walked around inside the Trinity church. The stain glass windows were amazing, and the boys pretended to be Nickolas Cage from "National Treasure"!!! Next we walked by Engine 10 company to see the new Tower of Liberty that is being built, along with the 9/11 memorial. Always a humbling experience! We decided to eat lunch while there at a pricy little pizza place- great pizza with NYC prices :)From there we headed uptown to Time Square- most of us ended up at Toys R Us!!! After our sightseeing ended we headed back to the Bronz to finish up our Bible clubs, both groups had a good turn out, and Team 2 had 4 kids accept Christ!!! We finished the night out in worship and sharing Testimonys. It was a powerful evening and one we all really needed. God has heard your prayers and given us renewed strength and love for one another. Thank you for your support. Tomorrow we head to the Bowery. Peace!!!! NYC Trib3

Day 3

Hello Cool Spring,
We've had another exciting day serving our Lord. This morning started out with both teams heading far out in the Bronx to serve at World Vision. What an amazing opportunity to serve and see how God is using a God centered organization. We all worked in the store house stacking shelves for the upcoming back to school event where Title 1 teachers are able to come in and get supplies for their students in need. Everyone put forth great effort in the very warm building!!! We all left there around 2pm and headed back to the church to get all our supplies for bible club. There was more sharing of out lives with our young new friends and several more kids accepted Christ. It's been great seeing how God has been using our teams to witness to these children in difficult home/neighbor settings. Of course God has been rejoicing, but it's also made Satan aware and on the prowl. We need extra prayers tonight as it's the middle of the week so we are all tired, and starting to run out of steam. Please pray for all our health, and patience with living with 14+ girls and one bathroom, and same for all the boys. We've managed but it has been a learning experience:) tomorrow we have the morning off and plan to get in a little sightseeing. Until then our <3 ....NYC Trib3

Continued from day 2

We had a great day 2 ! We even got to go to Little Italy tonight to enjoy some Italian desserts!

On a sad :( note however we had to send Melvin home on the train. He had injuried his foot on Monday and the doctor wanted him to stay off of it due to pain and swelling. We will miss Melvin's smiling face and his incredible heart to serve God.

Keep up all the prayers :) NYC Trib3

Day 2 - "Na Ne Na Ne Na Ne Na"

We'll start with Team 2\Green today. They spent all day playing with the same kids from the previous day at Playstreet. Lots of team members got a chance to talk to kids about Jesus and salvation. The second half of the day was spent at bible club. The group was excited by the kids participating more and snswering lots of questions. It was another great day.

Team 1/blue joined the other team on the outskirts of Manhattan to play all day, just on a different playstreet. There were lots of kids that loved having us there. The second half of the day, they came back to the playground for their second bible club. There were less kids, but a few older boys joined us. It was great because they had lots of questions and even a few excepted Christ. Everyone was extremely excited.

Also earlier this am, Jordan and Emily got the opportunity to go help at the Breakfast ministry located at a local church. They helped serve the food, strike up conversations with the people there, and then assist with clean up. It was a great thing to see so early in the morning.
